I think Courtney Hicks also asked for suggestions, too. Maybe I'm jaded, but I didn't add a suggestion to either one of them.

What's the point when there's a 99% chance that they will just pick one of the tried-and-true classics anyway, as opposed to something more original, different, or new?

And I have the same question: who is picking the music for these skaters? I have a difficult time believe that teenagers would be choosing a lot of this music of their own accord.

It's hard to imagine teenagers picking a lot of classical stuff, but I would think (or hope) that even as teenagers, skaters are somewhat more culturally/artistically aware than the general public, just because of the influence of figure skating on their lives.

Anyway, I'm hesitant to assume that Gracie has no say over her music, but I'm also hesitant to assume that she does. It's just hard to believe that Lori Nichol--who really has choreographed gorgeous programs for many skaters with music that the skaters really connect to--hasn't had much success with Gracie yet. (Hard to believe, yet true.) I've read that some people think Lori is really phoning it in, but considering her long relationship with Frank Carroll, it's weird to think she'd be phoning it in for one of his top students.

I'm more optimistic about the SP based on what we know at this point. Gracie might be able to bring some sass to a tango. I'm have way more trepidation about the Firebird program.

Is she even choosing the music? If she's going to skate to it for the whole season, she should be making the choice on what she wants. And not just her, I mean all skaters should have the liberty on choosing music.

Or maybe ask fans for suggestions. Like Anna Pogorilaya did.

I doubt they are dragging Gracie kicking & screaming into doing these programs. Just because her music choices haven't suited her, doesn't mean she didn't want to do them.

As for my own view on these new music choices; if they have given her something with a little more Power, then I think it's a step in the right direction.

The tango is interesting, as I liked her tango SP from 2012-2013. The FS is... at least better than POTO?

That red and black dress was for her SP then? I guess the dress makes sense for a tango program, I already mentioned this before but it looks a lot like one of Yuna's dresses

I don't think Gracie can pull off the Firebird and I highly doubt she choose her own music, she probably only choose the music for her exhibitions, they're always so different from her competitive programs

Lovely choice. Kayne/O'Shea did it last season though, and I'm just hoping that this isn't a blatant copy of theirs. I doubt it will be, though, Meaghan and Eric seem to be very original.

Me too, that remix is the only thing about the whole franchise I like.

Great! I was anxious for knowing her programs! And I don't think Madame Butterfly is that much a warhorse, yes, it's a popular music but I still remember more Miss Saigon and Memoirs of a Geisha programs. Not sure about it, but I'm know Mao will do great.

Mao's choices are very promising - I cannot wait to see her SP dress (hope it will be in mute gold with tassles or smth like that, 20's/30's style) and how Madame Butterfly music cuts will be used for FS (anticipating the outfit too - she has amazing taste and her costumes are greatly detailed )

For Gracie...to be honest I cannot force myself to like her/appreciate her mainly because these b@#$&^* choices of music for programs...Every season I hope she'll choose something fresh, modern, contemporary in style which would showcase her movement/speed/technique - no such luck this season too (at least Maia and Alex are doing Coldplay FD choreographed by Peter Tchernyshev...)

"Firebird" is a really good choice for Gracie Gold! She has a great choreographer who will create an excellent programme for her. This music gives a lot of possibilities for that.

I really hope that Gracie has learned NOT to read any skating forums!!! They are of no use to her career. Better just stick to professionals...

That's understandable. I hate certain music too. But most people don't hate it, they just don't like Gracie/are very upset that she's using a warhorse again.
