2015-2016 Programs by Discipline

What's wrong with Peer Gynt?

I think it has more to do with the fact that many people don't think that music is a good fit for Liza than the music itself. Apparently she recycled some of her Bolero choreography for this program (or so I've heard)?

Well we'll just have to wait and find out what the choreography will look like for Liza. I'm very excited to see what she'll bring.

Me too. I never watched the program, so I hope it's better than people are making it sound. While I'm not her biggest fan, I hope it's a good program because I would definitely like her more with good programs than with bad ones.

I love Grieg. Even so, I do cringe a bit when elite level skaters use Hall of the Mountain King, as Liza did in the teaser video released a while back. My problem with Hall of the Mountain King is that it has long been used, well overused, for kids' dance recitals. I can't hear the piece without seeing a stage full of 6 year olds skipping around in pink tutus. The piece also used to be popular with high school and college dance assembles. I don't know if other people have these associations to the music. It's probably just my own personal idiosyncrasy. I wish Liza had chosen music with less mileage on it.

The bigger problem was that the choreo seemed beyond her. I had the distinct feeling it would be something that Caro could pull off. I do miss Costner :(

This is what think of every time.

I agree it is really hard to do a piece that has a lot of outside world associations. And I suspect it can be extra hard cross-culturally. Maybe in Russia it is not as widely used. Maybe a beloved program from the western hemisphere is uses songs from a Russian cracker commercial.

Yeah, that is very true. For example, in Britain Dvorak's New World Symphony is known by a big chunk of the population only as the Hovis ad music.

No I never heard about that. The only association I have is Grieg, which I love. So I'm safe. I love the "morning mood" though.

Could be. I can't associate this with commercial although it must've been used a lot. I googled and the only think I could find in italian is Tuborg commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpZSV9fyuxA and App Radio Rai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wefQBjPOPD8

I don't like Liza's programs in general, especially her flapping arms hanged on the air. I've seen that short clip but it's really too short to even have an idea of how the program might be. The music per se though I think it suits her.

DUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! I remember seeing this commercial back in 2000-2001. I was like 5-6 years old. I feel so old!!!!!!! And I kinda imitate that commercial when I eat goldfish crackers with hamburgers cooked at home (It tastes good trust me). Well not exactly. But the dialogue SOMEWHAT. Yeah don't judge me. But seriously, I'm SOOOOO happy seeing this commercial again.

Yes, it's for his short programm.

Thanks...someone else asked Moris about the SP today. I guess it will be a mix of these two songs. Should be interesting!

А кп какая музыка?) I believe I can fly, haddaway- what is love

According to Evan Bates twitter Chock/Bates will announce the music for their dances tomorrow. I wonder what it will be

Edit: They will be the first top 3 team who announced their music choice, right? I didn't find anything about W/P or P/C.

La Boheme? Ambitious.

The Tales of Beatrix Potter soundtrack: :)

Just survived three Masquerade Waltzes in a row watching the first JGP event. Looks like my hopes for fewer than 6 this season may be dashed rather quickly.

I read that there have been rumors about a tango. And Najarro choreographed the FD, so it seems possible. Not that he can't choreograph anything else but flamenco and tango (which is not Spanish anyway), of course.

No, Weaver/Poje and Papadakis/Cizeron haven't announced their music yet. Weaver/Poje have been working with Petr Tchernyshev on some choreography, but we don't know for certain wheher it was for their FD, or only for an exhibition number. They have also worked with Benji Schwimmer on two programs (or so it seemed) - most likey on the SD and another exhibition number.
