2018 Olympic Figure Skating Short Dance

This is probably the first time in Ice Dance history where

there is no Russian team in the final group, Right?

Or wait, Was there ever an Ice dance podium with no Russians on it?

Yes, and about time the judges got the memo. B/S have no place in that final flight. As I said before these are the OGs, athletes work too hard for politics to interfere with scoring. The judges got it right in my book tonight.

I don't. I find Madison Hubbell to be strong but ungainly. I've never warmed up to her. I think Maia has more grace and is no less technically proficient. I also think Madison Chock though not as powerful just much more aesthetic.

I liked the Shibs better up until about mid last year. They bore be sometimes. I like H/D’s long much better as well. I really like Madison though.

That's your take. I personaly wouldnt give that high marks to VM for all you said except PE tonight. That's what happened. It seems the knowledgable person that actually see and judge the competition live agreed.

Jackie is maybe the most objective commentator there is so I just want to put this out there

I just feel so frustrated that even when P/C doesn't deliver, their fans still see them better as V/M. It was not nearly their best tonight, Gabby was distracted and the twizzels were not good.

What a gift to the French.. the top 5 couples performed better than they did and to still win the PCS, nevermind the flagrant mistakes....wow

Gabriella's nipple was out for half of that program. What a soldier to power through that routine. She is so brave. Hero.

Placements are for the most part, right, imo. I would personally switch H/D and S/S, but the story was told by the levels at the end of the day.

Love P/C, but really dubious (?) about their PCS score. It seems suspicious that they'd come out ahead of V/M on PCS particularly given the costume malfunction, which we all know tightens up the skaters since they're trying to keep it together. Thought the gap should be bigger between P/C and V/M, but apart from that, pretty happy with the event! Also props to C/L, skated out of their skin - so, so happy for them

So Bobrova and Soloviev lost levels on three of their elements and are still ahead of Chock and Bates...? Cool... [emoji52]

Why do judges hate C\B?
They always seem to do enough in TES to contend but then get fudged on PCS

Do the judges feel like they're obligated to not score 3 teams
from the same country as high or something?

The French's skating sills are on a different planet than the teams in 3rd and below and there weren't "flagrant mistakes".

This is why the sport is terrible and I hate following it. People making controversy out of nothing.

I love P/C and I feel so so sorry about the wardrobe malfunction and very proud how she fought through her best despite it.
HOWEVER, it was far from their best performance, and it was definitely not a match to V/M's fabulous performance today. Giving it higher PCS than V/M is so very wrong. Really disappointed.

I know right? I mean Chock and Bates are so pleasant to watch and they did get most of their levels. I do not understand how the OAR got more PCS than Maddie and Evan.

Edit: I got carried away with emotions so decided to edit and be Nice ;)

Oh gosh. Do I want to be that pedant that says that technically there are not Russian teams here, but OAR teams :slink:. But in memory to Russian ID teams whose performances were missed here, like Stepanova/Bukin I will :).
