Thrilled for Mozalev!!
Is the 'Andrei' balloon still intact by any chance? 😆
I am happy to report that my clever tactics worked. Andrei M’s balloon tricked the cat (featured below with the cat) and he (the cat, not Mozalev) made away with Boikova/Kozlovskiy balloon while I was grabbing coffee during the particularly funerary dirge on the ice dance. I think cat likes the round opaque golden ones, because that what Mozalev’s was at first and B/K is the same (yeah, I am that transparent). Now it’s the purple one… but then the cat never touched Uno’s… 🤷‍♀️

And, to continue with good things in Russian men, I am catching up on CoR, and both of Smirnova’s junior men students, Puzin and Popov, did wonderful. I am so looking forward to Popov vs Kutovoy skate off whenever Kutovoy returns to the fray (hopefully soon!). Popov is definitely in the junior nationals, unlikely in JW, but he is becoming more and more of my fav in this age group. I think Smirnova got the memo about gliding and spins being important.

Okay, I know I am taking a terrible risk here, but i did some soul searching, and from everyone competing at RosTelecom, I root the most for Semenenko to do the impossible and either win gold or improve his score by 9 points with silver ❤️ So, yes, yes, despite the ver real threat of feline intervention, golden balloon goes to Semenenko. I am sure he would be thrilled if he knew…

Semenenko wasn't clean in Canada so if he's clean here it should bring a few extra points plus the home scoring bonus. Nine points could be doable. Gold or lack thereof depends on Kolyada.

I think either is a long shot, but fingers crossed.

9 points is a jump, it's not impossible and after all it's men we're talking about anything can happen as we know

(Darkly) everything can happen in man’s skating is what I am worried about. I mean, ‘just stretch a little bit more, Zhenya’ can only go so far. Ah, well, let’s see what Woland can do for him. 🤞
he isn't going to snatch the gold probably, but 9 points is a 3A with good goes, Semenenko is not that inconsistent so far (nor is Kondratyuk i know that) so on paper is doable. if he stands on his feet he will also stand on the podium

I am hoping that at least they will take out costume changes for good. It doesn’t add anything to the program but stress.

Speaking of Kolyada,
Is anybody finding it weird that on practices he is jumping 4S off a forward outside three turn. I never see him up off this - why are they changing this now?

I find it weird that there wasn't a single clean attempt in two days.

Previously the 4S was working well from the old entry, and here he is trying from a new entry. Has he developed a mental block with this jump, or are they trying to "fix something that isn't broken" by changing the entry?

Actually, I was thinking JGP tie breaker, and Semenenko needs more, almost 268 (267.74) points to get ahead of Brown. Which means 13 points over Skate America… gosh.

Edit: alas, at this point I think it is beyond his reach, since he needs like 187 in the free even if he somehow could make silver. Hugs.

Unless something happened, I don't understand why they changed it. He landed one in the warmup to the SP, but then he didn't. Not sure if it's something that they needed to work around.

Well, let’s see how it goes tomorrow… but does this mean that Ignatov’s stakes are improving? I am resigned that Mozalev is up for next years’ climb back even if he does well in Zagreb/RusNats, but Ignatov?
