I agree with you. I wish Russia could split more events up. Isn’t that the point of the team event? To highlight the depth of a country. I would trust Kolyada more in the free skate and this might be what is indeed best for the team. However, right now, it is not about what is the best for the team. But, what is best for a camp and their individual skaters. Gold medals are a top priority for future net worth, and camp reputation points. So, given, this factor, I’m 99% certain, the ladies and pairs will be the two that get split. It won’t matter at all, if Mark has to skate four times. I’m sure Mark won’t even mind, as he would probably prioritize the team event over the individual event, anyways. With this said, the Canadian team, at the last Olympics, had 3 of their top skaters skate four times, and it didn’t affect really seem to affect their individual results.
