Have we tweaked the choreo a bit here? I remember her reeling off jump after jump during the including heavy metal I Wanna Be Your Dog final segment. In fact it was my favorite part of the program, because it seemed to suit her so well!

Controversial opinion: Maybe Sasha doesn't need a 3A and five quads to win the Olympics?

She does need more than this if Kamila skates clean though..(or Maiia or Anna (if she can get at least one quad back) for that matter). (Anna's WTT FS with a step out of her 4F scored better than Sasha did here.)

Also, it's Sasha and she hates watering down her skates. (So do Anna and Kamila. Both Anna and Sasha talked about not liking only doing two quads after RusNats last year.)

A clean free for Sasha in competition for the first time in ages, and still a massive technical score with just one quad. She is an extraordinary jumper, she really is. The programme is definitely not choreographed for a single quad, and doesn't have the same energy without the excitement of the big jumps; Sasha's performance was also not on a par with her short, but that was really a remarkable SP. And congratulations to Sasha on winning her first GP assignment of the season! May this be the confidence boost she needs to produce the extraordinary free programme she wants to do.

yeah i'm not surprised with the result, but it still just doesn't seem right tbh

I think the result is fair. Young fell on the 3A in the short, but skated a clean FS. Darya the other way around. Both skated lovely, and got very even PCS in the FS. I don´t see what is not right here. I don´t see the judges throwing out candy to Darya. Darya was 3rd in the FS, which is fair. But her lead put her just ahead.

This. People forget it's over two skates and Young did fall on her 3A attempt..and Daria could have been slightly higher..
