2023-24 Russian Nationals Men's Short Program

Man, I was about to say the Andrei M was doing it, but then +COMBO. :(

Nice shirt though and aside from the almost falling that step sequence was beautiful, loved the spread eagles at the end!

I hope Alexey E is OK :( Sadly this reminds me of how at Junior Worlds - which I think Alexey E won, Alexei K from USA had a similar horrific fall and had to withdraw - he was the favourite I think?

But yes, I hope Alexey E is getting x-rays and stuff and didn't just take off his boot!

My time zone math is not mathing….probably too early 🥱 are Pairs on around 8ish EST or am I off…I only used to get up this early for figures 😴.

Foot I understand - if the skate is tight enough to keep stability and cuts blood flow to numb the foot + adrenline.

But broken leg? What? I'd love to know who that was and when so I can see.
That actually happened with an American skater Joshua Ferris. It was a non-displaced fracture of the lower leg. There was a lot of anger toward his coach at the time. I think they have so much adrenaline during the skate that they don't always feel the pain until they get off the ice.

And he kept jumping with a broken leg? Just bizarre.

Well, I watched the performance. Where did you learn he broke his leg? I really dont think its possible to walk like with a broken leg. Maybe this is a translation issue.
Guess it depends on the break? Sometimes you have a fracture where the bone bends but doesn't break (especially if you're young), so it's possible that happened. It's called a greenstick fracture - I had one when I was a kid, granted I wasn't doing a skating routine at the time, but I didn't actually think I'd really hurt it until I rolled over onto my arm later on. I screamed my head off then! :eek2:

Hope Maksim B is healing up well now though!

I guess you learn something new every day
