Katherine Medland Spence was great!
She only fell on the 2A 3T and stepped out of her next triple. She increased her domestic PB from 165 to 168 and now has a chance to be selected for a challenger event. She will be our 7th lady to exceed this domestic benchmark. I’m so proud of her 👏
Great win for her

Minsol just missed the 166 benchmark. Minsol looked like an Angel out there. But, she did skate slower out there. 165.97 is what she scored. But, she is still a Junior girl. She must not have been skating much. I saw fatigue. She << her second last triple and the last triple was not even close, resulting in a fall. Still, a pleasure to see her out there skating in Canada 🇨🇦.

Canada judges are ruthless!!
Minsol had so many carrots 🥕

2A 👏
3F 3T< (really?)
3Lzq (I did see that)
3Lo< 2T (really?)

3Lo< 2A< 2T (really? I thought this combo was fine😭)
3S< (fair)
3F<< F (fair)

Plus, a time violation.
When Minsol finished, I thought she would score 110+ in the free skate. Some of these < should be q’s. So strict

(I feel like Canada doesn’t want international skaters beating their domestic skaters. I felt the same way when the judges scored Hetty over Uliana at both Challenger and Nationals, last season, for the bronze medals)

I don’t want Minsol running back to Korea after this event.

Also, interesting that my two faves, Lia and Minsol are both skating to Romeo and Juliet this season.

Senior Free Dance was supposed to start 20 minutes ago, the stream is also acting up. The music sync was better earlier, I hope the freezing doesn't cause the sound to be delayed again.

Okay, now it's starting.

That was a nice skate from Robinson/Portz. Some of the lift exits felt a little awkward to me, but I liked them overall. 106.07, 165.3 total. Just hit the domestic benchmark (y)

I liked Korneva/MacDonald too, especially their last lift where she launches into his arms. 89.01, total 148.59

No, Olivia Corneil fell out of her first set of twizzles :( Corneil/Emery had the highest scoring twizzles yesterday too. 69.38 for the free, 117.47 total. The score took longer than the warm-up for the second group.

92.23 for the free for Homick/Buelow, 144.49 total. I think they'll be on the podium at Nationals next season.

David Bondar didn't withdraw from Junior Men, I wouldn't have blamed him if he did a week after competing in Wuxi.

Jake Ellis - fall on the -3T. His camel spin looked off to me, and fall on the 3F. Not his night :( 47.12

David Bondar - jumps landed, maybe the combo could have been better (edit: 3Lzq+2T on the protocol, yeah.) 65.04 into first

David Shteyngart - battle of the Davids! 2A was nice, 2-footed and spin on the landing of the -3T, nice 3F. 61.62, so David Bondar won this round.

I'm going to miss having all the Davids in Junior Men.

54.37 and into 3rd for James Cha. I don't know how he landed his jumps, but he did.

Rio - popped his axel :( Also it looks like he has tissue in his nose? 57.57, I think there was an issue with a spin too.

Ilia is starting to influence Canadian men's music 😅 I hadn't heard of NF before him, Howard Leung skated to it for his short.
