2025-26 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 5 - Omsk

So what? Discussion is about the Olympic candidate. Check their skating scores. Check Dikidzhi's scores before anybody decided Petr was going anywhere. There was no reason to skew anybody. Everyone was scrutinized to find the best man for Olympics. Dikidzhi has a ZERO (0!!!) chance of podium at Olympics. Z.E.R.O. Unless everyone bombs 💣💣💣 in which case it didn't matter anyways! (n)(n)
Gumennik would also need at least several skaters to bomb.

Vlad rotates his jumps as well as anyone when he's on, which I suspect he will be in the free skate. Semenenko is wild in his jumps, messy landings but finds a way to rotate them, great fun to watch even though I can see how they would give him nothing for GOE on his jumps. It's messy but he's fighter. Mark probably would have been rejected.

Petr based on the past 8 days won't beat Egadze.

I do not think so. The best skaters aside from Malinin are taking 290-300 clean. I 100% believe Gummenik can score in the 290s with international judging. It is absolutely impossible for Vlad.

Ok, Vlad can do all that and still not score 280.

Yes he will.

It doesn't sound any realistic for me but you are free to have this opinion.
Ok, 290s is assuming the other favourites are perfect. If you want to put him in the 280s then you just need 1-2 of the other favourites not to be perfect (which is the current standard)—maybe one fall across both programs, or a couple step-outs, some rotation calls, dropped levels—anything (it would be a miracle for the internationals if this didn't happen at the current rate). Vlad would need multiple favourites to present career-low nuclear meltdown type performances. Not the same.

Yeah. I have to agree. As much as I love Gumennik's skating, a top 6 results at Olympics is probably what he can hope for.

But I DO want him to medal, he is my birthday twin after all... :ROFLMAO:

A joy to see my two fav seniors in the same competition, Muravieva and Gorbacheva! With Muravieva scratchy landings I would still had her behind Nelyubova too. Gorbacheva though was wonderful. If only they didn't go with the trite music for her FS!

Sorry, but it's kind of ridiculous Akatieva took this spot when she clearly wasn't prepared for it. There are other skaters who I'm sure would've loved to have this spot and would've done better. What's the point in showing up and getting this result? It doesn't do her any favors

I was going to keep my mouth shut, but since it was brought up... I also don't understand Akat'yeva's explanation, they literally said she had struggled with preparation and had known and unresolved issues. And then went because 'why not'? Because she wasn't ready. That's why. Isn't this a good reason?

I suppose my presumption is nobody else was taking the spot. I hope she didn't take the spot from someone who wanted & deserved it. Really there was only Fedyanina as Agaeva and Vazhnova are unable. If Fedyanina wasn't able then I don't see a problem with Akateva going for her own psychological benefit and viewership. Someone like Fursova wasn't qualifying anyways.

Seemed like a farewell to me

But if they were ready, they should have went. It's not only taking spots, it is also competing unprepared leads to all kind of bad things.
