2025 Canadian Nationals: SR Pairs' Short Program | Jan 17, 2025

There are times when beating the crowd beats getting the marks. We have also done the trick where we go to the washroom and walk toward the exit during the replays, then duck into the tunnel nearest the exit to hear the marks.

Sometimes they have screens in the hallway, so you don't need to bother with the ducking-in part!
Marks came out quickly on the site anyway... And we'll I had predicted 77 so I was close enough ;)

All in all n ot bad at all. L and E surprised with more sparkle but alll the top 3 or 4 teams couuld deal with more speed and whata I called amplitude - finish on their elements. I just don't see a lot that sets Deanna and Max from the other top world team and then trennt and LLia from those fight from like 6th to 12th. I was also hoping more from Bombarrdier and her partner but it looks like the top three are settled If this was in trumplland /usa the scores woud be probably at leasgt 2 to 3 points higher per team.
The top teams were faster than you may think. Kieran and Jasmine were fast too. The only team that was very slow was the first team from Ontario. Max and Deanna are usually a bit faster too but knowing how sick he has been, I'm okay with cautious but steady speed. What is missing is not really speed but connection between elements. At the same time, very few teams do this well in the world

.... after reading your post I was looking for the information and found an article about Max illness and I am really, really impressed- and in awe- that he actually had/has enough strength to skate!

The pairs event might have been short (pun intended) but it was really sweet and enjoyable. Glad to see most couples doing well. A pity about that belt though. I always hate it when there's costume problems. It could be worse of course but still. Glad to see Kelly Ann and Loucas do well for the home crowd. Good to see a nicely filled out rink with spectators too. And Max is great! After being so ill, and illness sucks strength, to be able to do so well. Deanna wasn't pleased with her own little wobble but it turned out okay for them both. Looking forward to the Free!

Loved Kelly Ann and Loucas had such a great skate. Miss my girlies pair days such a great discipline 🤩

Deanna really is a queen! So commanding presence on the ice and each movement is with such an outstanding elegance, polished...now I understand why Canadians love her Exceptional. Though, this is only a warm up...you never know how actual skating will go...
I love the new calm she displays. Winning validated her belief in herself and she KNOWS what she is capable of and that she can trust herself to deliver.
