THis is NOT new and it may be odd but they have been doing it for a while because it is the most difficult possiblel death spiral And quuite frankly it is the only trick that no one else does so it is like the only thing we can be happy about. They seem to be struggling maybe due to lack of training and as much as we are happy forLia and Trennt this team lacks the it factor and they have been around for a bit and are not getting better tech or artistically wwise. Thetop three teams were fine but not overly memorable. Little thins. Perhaps Max should change his fs costume to blue to mimic and encouurage thewater theme. If Lia borrowned Weaver's dress understandable. Skating is expensive and can you immagine paying over $1000 or more on a dress and findiing it does not workwell with the program and getting another one or whatever. Lia is not Tessa Virtue who had a financially strong fatherr and financial backers bbeing an olympic and word champion. I worry about the Canadian teams on the word scene even Max and Deanna because they just don't stand out in a good way. THey don't have extraordinary tricks or artistry. But Max and deanna are s ti a threat for the word podium thankfully.
The forward outside death spiral was invented by the Protopopovs in the 1960s. It's been seldom performed by other pairs then or since because it's so very difficult technically. I've seen a couple of other pairs doing it in the last year or two, although I can't remember who offhand. I suspect they learned it as a challenge because Deanna has been performing it for several years.
