2025 CS Nebelhorn Trophy Pairs Free Skate

Fan of Lia and Trennt. Hoping they can solidy those throws. Lift mistake in the SP was a fluke. I like, not love, their programs -hope they grow on me.

Love that they skated respectfully to the music of The Mission - bravo!

I just saw a 60 second video of Danny and Ellie involved in a horrible fall. She was overhead, he was backwards and it looks like his skate hit a rut. She plummeted straight down on the back of her head and so did he. they both stayed down with Danny sitting up before Ellie. She was moving but clearly really hurt. Can't find anything about this on any youtubes or news feeds so it must just have happened. I suspect at the very least they will both be concussed and hopefully that's all. Didnt see any blood but the clip ended without seeing anyone coming to their help. Hope they're both okay/

That’s awful. 🙏🏻 they will be okay. Is there a chance it was an old video? There were rumours Ellie had a concussion back in August, it could not have been from that time? If it’s just happening it’s even more worrying as another concussion in such a short period of time could have very serious consequences. Joshua coming to mind straight away.

Miura’s 3toe in the FS was not called q or UR either when it clearly was not fully rotated.
Exactly this.

Ugh, again, with the INSANELY high scoring for Miura/Kihara who have a 2Salchow and a fall on a throw, but still come within a breath of winning while Hase/Volodin only had the -GOE on the jump sequence, but an otherwise clean skate. Thank god, Hase and Volodin squeaked out the win. What a wild world that Miura/Kihara have a 2 major mistake cushion while all the other pairs are expected to be squeaky clean! :angry4:
But what can you do, Japanese sponsors are demanding.
Nowadays they even adapt the rules for the japanese skaters to succeed in pairs. All of a sudden, they are pairs nation now. All because they can no longer win in singles. Air positions are not important, aesthetics is irrelevant, all we care about is SPEED. As long as you have SPEED and can do half decent crooked pair elements, you are unbeatable now. They are to win the Olympics, not a single doubt.

On Hase&Volodin. The program is going to be very good. But I thought the music is a bit underwhelming. Not many highlights. Even the crowd reaction wasn’t as strong as last year. Like I said their programs can easily fall flat in the Olympic arena. To sell this kind of music, the performance has to be on another level, and they’re not exactly known for their performance.

I wonder if someone who understands German could give me a gist of what the German commentator said about Alisa/Misha? Many thanks!
SP: Alisa has historically struggled with jumps - and their cautious approach to the triple salchows showed some lack of confidence. Weiss noted this as their biggest weakness. Excellent pair elements. Nice flight phase on the throw, though she could stretch more. Great speed on the lift. They had a tryout and their chemistry was immediate. He praised their harmony, maturity, and how well they fit together on the ice. Called them a true world-class team. He also noted they could contend for a medal at the Olympics, including the team event.
In the free skating he said their performance looked shaky with some possible pain or discomfort visible.

Much appreciated! 👍

Also Daniel Weiss's comments on Hase & Volodin.

SP: Minerva recently seemed under pressure. He praised their overall quality, but noted lack of synchronicity in the spin and suggested they could bring out more tango feeling, especially in the second half. "They could emphasize the relationship between the man and woman even more. They could add more speed as well.

FS: Before the last lift coach told them to add speed, and they did. Strong program, beautiful music. Today they focused on technique - that's noticeable. Weiss praised their preparation. The music and choreography are artistically ambitious and hard to implement. Weiss stressed they were still somewhat tense and that the team wants them to skate with more speed and looseness; adding tempo and freer expression to the program is a work in progress despite intensive summer training to build speed.
Her dress will be altered - a new version is being made in France because the team/designers weren't fully satisfied with the present outfit.
Not flawless, but convincing opening performance to build on. Weiss pointed out there is still "clear room for improvement" in speed, emotional projection and some execution details.

Did you see the youtube clip of Danny and Ellie in a horrible joint crash to the ice?

That’s awful. 🙏🏻 they will be okay. Is there a chance it was an old video? There were rumours Ellie had a concussion back in August, it could not have been from that time? Danny had a fall/crash like that with Chelsea Liu a few years ago. It was scary and awful. I'm hoping that's that video you saw, and there wasn't a new fall/injury with Ellie and him.

C/W's riverdance program is really fun and I'm sure they will be able to deliver it better soon. Practices looked good.

Besides H/V and M/K obviously, I really enjoyed the Swiss team. And Izzo/Maierhofer. They have really improved a lot quite fast. Annika and Robert...I'm really happy his recovery is going well, and that they were able to deliver here, I read that both of them were a bit sick. And the music works REALLY well for them I think.

But my highlight of the event was Lucrezia's face when she saw the gift I threw on the ice for her :love2: she was sooo happy about it, that made my day
