2025 CS Nebelhorn Trophy Pairs Free Skate

That was some aggressive Gladiatorial singing. If that were a soprano instead of Bocelli, I think every piece of glass in my home would have shattered (although I might have preferred the vocals anyway).

Good skate--this should be a good rivalry all season, and while I prefer Hase/Volodin I'm happy with either team winning all the big events.

I looked at my time... Some of these pairs skated late into the night. It's almost 11PM!! Are championships supposed to be this late?
Such very small differences between gold and silver. Wow. Congratulations for all the medalists!

Ugh, again, with the INSANELY high scoring for Miura/Kihara who have a 2Salchow and a fall on a throw, but still come within a breath of winning while Hase/Volodin only had the -GOE on the jump sequence, but an otherwise clean skate. Thank god, Hase and Volodin squeaked out the win. What a wild world that Miura/Kihara have a 2 major mistake cushion while all the other pairs are expected to be squeaky clean! :angry4:

Not to be that guy but McBeath/Parkman with this score here would have easily secured the 3rd US spot for Pairs but i guess the US never really wanted that 3rd spot anyways. 😠
They could have. Or they may not have since they were skating here in a regular Challenger instead of qualifying for an Olympic spot. It's a different pressure when qualifying an Olympic spot and they may not have duplicated the same scores in Beijing.

Especially for a spot you'll never be in the running for

Well, I think we did. Want it, that is. :) Maybe some of the PTB who had a vote really believed Shin/Nagy had the best shot at qualifying the spot, partly because they thought S/N would want to earn the spot more, since they would be eligible to use it. Unfortunately, others of the PTB might just have been exercising favoritism, which it seems clear S/N are getting.

I'll be that guy. I think McBeath/Parkman would have done as well at the Olympic qualifier as they did today, looking at how they've been performing recently. So it's a real shame that we won't have that 3rd spot, when we clearly could have used it well.

The other thing .... I've had the feeling for weeks now that Katie and Daniiel would have felt honored to have the chance to earn that spot for the US, even though they couldn't have used it. I know, I know; it's just a feeling I have .... but they look so happy to be competing, and they seem very grounded. Would they have felt the pressure that S/N did? we don't know.

Good job by the Germans. We knew they were getting better and they did it hear. They killed it. And beat Japan. I am a little "disappointed" in the Japanese. Withotu Russia I think many of us thought they would dominate. This is not the case. THe Americans must be thrilled. Lia and Trennt get further and further away from the top five and now may no longer be in th top ten. Canada's top two teams have not looked good so far with Deanna and Max not look competitive with the top Germans; Italy, Japan or even Georgia. The Americans showing promise Yay! Japan, Germany and Italy are the current leaders; too close to call. None ot hese teams have really awesome programs or super difficult elements. It wasn't long ago when you had throw quads and individual triple lutzes.

The key is sbs jump sequence here. Miniki made mistake on theirs and it actually was quite costly, they lost a bit of base value and goe, so while RikuRyu for the same planned element (3T2A2A) got 11.89 points, Miniki got only 6.07. Like it or not, mistakes on elements with a huge base value are more costly than others. Still they won the free skate and the event, so I think it's fine for them.

I see your point, but in addition to their other 2 major errors, Miura’s 3toe in the FS was not called q or UR either when it clearly was not fully rotated. I also feel these cuts from the Gladiator soundtrack are not the best vehicle for selling M/K’s talents; I was quite underwhelmed by it. I do like this team despite how I complain about their high scores with multiple major mistakes. They are rarely clean in the FS; however, that doesn’t appear to be harming their chances. The judges have made it very clear that they are the favorites for the Olympic gold medal, especially since Mishina/Galliamov are not allowed to compete. Perhaps their FS will win me over if they are miraculously able to skate it clean one day.
