2026 Olympics Team Event speculation

Looking around I found an Olympic Team Event Simulator on another site if anyone is interested
https://www.another site.com/r/Figu...ted_an_olympic_team_event_simulator_to_share/
Their sample chart mathed out what I've been thinking about with Ice Dance and Fear/Gibson. They (and Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron) could play spoiler for Italy's chances at bronze.

Thanks for the link, this should be fun to play with :thank:

Since Cha is the flag bearer I don’t think we see him in the team event since the two overlap time wise.

Which likely helps Canada
I think it may but I think it may not matter because Cha could have placed ahead of a bunch of skaters like CAN, GEO, ITA and FRA which means that the point differential wouldn't have changed. It's very simple of course: If Canada wants to a) qualify and b) have a shot at finals, GOGO and Maddie need to skate perfect SPs. (and be rewarded for them)

Coming off injury, I can see why Japan may be splitting Pairs based on speculation from the group departure photo. Miura/Kihara have a good chance at winning individual gold and Nagaoka/Moriguchi are more solid this season. It would probably be a safe split for them in the free. Italy, I'm mixed about whether a split would be safe or not. It'll definitely be interesting to see the practice reports.
Japan Nagakoa / Moriguchi has places higher or sb higher than u s

Alot of skaters will have to skate clean to beat other teams or stay ahead .

some skaters can get away with a mistake. not everyone enters the rink equal. It depends on their base value and PCS ceiling.
Agreed, but I think a clean Cha (who I dont think will compete) would only place below Ilya and Yuma with mistakes. The others would need to be clean, and even then I’m doubtful FRA/ITA would be ahead. CAN/GEO certainly wouldn’t.

To all point I agree. For example sui and han was ahead by how many points despite PC their mistakes cost them. Kaori was far enough ahead of everyone especially Junhwa in the short thar his mistakes almost cost him.

Pics of only hold off and enough if they make few mistakes and other are nail for carrots and PCs aren't close.
In team alot of skater and teams pcs are close.
Even kaori and u.s.
Or japan ladies and u s.
France u.s teams

They are close.
But I agree some skaters teams will make mistakes and still be ahead of clean skaters

Stephen needs to land everything, gets all level 4s and pray for PCS. I don't want to put pressure on him as it is a team competition but his result will be crucial

I just read that Deanne and Maxime from. Canada are not doing team. Lea And Michaud is doing both.

I doubt hurts team much.

Now worried about individuals medal result had a nice chance at medaling .

It'll be Pereira/Michaud in the Team event for Canada, Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps are out of it.

Edit - now confirmed that Pereira/Michaud will do both.

Deanna and Max just cannot get a break. Lia and Trennt will have to be perfect on the SP. Deanna and Max had a much higher ceiling. In the LP, it is much less of an issue, IF Canada manages to get there at this point.

What is more worrisome is that this may mean that Max and Deanna are out of the games completely.

With Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps withdrawing from the team event it does seem like Canada is waving the white flag in the team event, to focus on getting a medal in the individual event.

This was their opportunity for team bronze with no Russian team.

The events do not overlap. The opening ceremony is in the evening on Feb 6 and the men skate in the evening on Feb 7.

Interesting that Kao Miura has already arrived in Milan. Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Sato both left earlier, but neither have practiced at the Milan rink (likely still at their base in Varese). Does this mean a possible shake-up to Japan's team event skaters for men... or just Kao being early to acclimatize with timezone and rink conditions (today is the first scheduled group practices).

Kaori Sakamoto, Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara, and Utana Yoshida/Masaya Morita all have practiced in Milan.

I don't know. Deanna and Max, if clean could have beaten both Italy and Georgia in the SP on the strength of their twist, and lift GOE. I doubt clean Lia and Trennt can beat Italy and Georgia unless these make mistakes. So in the end, it's a couple important points that could have swung in favour of Canada. Of course, that's all hypothetical. It could have gone any possible way. But Deanna and Max do have a higher ceiling on both GOE and PCS, especially in the SP.

From Jackie Wong's practice notes for the Team event practice, it looks like Amber Glenn was doing her run-through for the free.

It looks like Amber and Alysa both did the longs today and their shorts yesterday. I'd be surprised if Amber didn't do the short because she has a higher scoring potential there, whereas Alysa is steadier on all her jumps so it makes more sense for her to do the long.
