What a team event. It seems more pressure cooker than previous. Higher expectations for u.s. and japan and Italy.
Yes lived up to hype.
1st time u.s. only switched once ladies and both podium.

China, Korea, Great Britain , Poland, China

Wonderful made it a classic.
Couldn't have been without the skaters and teams

Wonderful to see all .
Lovely joyous

Loved the team event...especially when it's so close (between gold and silver). And do you know, I would have been pleased for all athletes, medalling or not. Most skated so well, Matteo who skated even better than at European's, Ellie who landed her throw jumps, Lia and Trennt who had no medal but skated so wonderfully, I can continue but I won't. Just say I really, really loved it!

Hoo boy, what a nail-biter in men's, Shun Sato was great. Very satisfying performance, as was Rizzo's.

Heros of the U.S. victory: Kam and O'shea. They probably wouldn't even have skated if Efinova had been able to secure citizenship. Given the chance, Ellie and Danny knocked it out of the park!

Chock and Bates probably should have been 3rd in the RD, made a huge difference. Ilia's PCS ahead of Sato and Rizzo I don't agree with, probably should be closer to Gogalev maybe in the low 80's especially with all his errors, probably should have got -1 for his fall as well. But Ilia was good to keep it together one more error and would have lost the gold medal.

Sato and Japan didn't get the victory on the scoresheet, but got the moral victory. Well done.

Rizzo was fantastic as well that's a skate you can rewatch for years to come.

That's not the landing point of the jump. Even if it was, it's no more than 'q' based on the initial angle of entry.

I doubt it. Maybe 8 years from now, but in just 4 years it's highly unlikely with their current field that a team will arise who are individual medal threats.
They don’t need to be individual medal threats, more like middle of the pack. Like USA pairs

Hindsight is always 20/20, but there are SO many ways this could have ended differently. Obviously, Danny and Ellie picking up an unexpected point today was big, but so was beating Sui/Han in the short, where they picked up another unexpected point. Maddie and Evan skating strongly to beat the French in the RD, when many thought they wouldn't. Ilia picking up 19 total points with way less than his best stuff.

And Team Japan's decision to not skate Yuma, who could have beaten Ilia's score today.

This was exciting, right down to the wire, with athletes having to compete under bigtime pressure. I loved it.

Really exciting and enjoyable event, the battle for gold was much closer than I expected. Shun should be proud of himself. Kaori yet again showed what a fighter she is.

I am so happy for Italy and especially Matteo Rizzo, Charlene and Marco. They deserved this bronze.

That was a thrilling event. The teams had to be on their game with the scoring so tight. We saw a lot of Olympian efforts, especially from those skating with injuries . The event was tight to the end. The skaters did themselves and their countries proud. I look forward to seeing most of them in the individual events.

It was a thrilling event for sure. I'm so proud of team Canada for delivering 8 awesome performances minus one jump. It was not meant to be but considering how many were not even seeing them in the final round, they did very well. I was rooting for team Japan and Italy the most so I am glad they are on the podium. In general, the event was very well skated perhaps except for the pairs short program. Skaters were ready and on 🔥. Special mention to the adorable Polish dance team. You could see what it meant for them to be there.

The landing point is actually a little before that.
No it isn't. His blade is not in the ice.

I suppose being just 1 place higher in the Short Dance would have given it to Japan this time, but it will be very hard for their dance entry to finish higher than 7th in the Short Dance portion and last place in the Free Dance portion. They need a talented team that has been training together from a young age if they want a real revolution within their program and significantly better placements, which is why I say it's not going to happen in the next 4 years.

I am so pleased with all the skaters. I’ve watched several games now and have had winners, losers, heartbreak and despair over the years. I was rooting for everyone and happy that most had a positive experience. I hope it continues.

I was hoping for a Canada medal, just because I want Piper and Paul to have one (for sure) before they move on.

But you have to love the Italian team. It was evident what this medal meant to them.

The team event was amazing and stressful as all hell to watch. There were some frayed nerves from the skaters - and from me - but many competitors gave career best performances, Kagiyama, Shun, Gogolev, Kam/O’shea, Pereira/Michaud. Others that stick out in my mind are Rizzo, Gilles/Poirer RD and Guignard/Fabbri FD.

I wanted Japan to win the gold, but am very satisfied with how they won the Silver, giving it their absolute all and outperforming the US in my opinion. It went down to the very last seconds!

And finally, I think the Bravo Sierra that the team event is meaningless and that top competitors don’t care about it can be put to rest. The skaters clearly care about it a great deal and, therefore, it has value.

Edit: Rizzo’s performance also sticks out with me! Not sure how I forgot to mention him.

The first time I remember seeing Rizzo skate was in the team event at the 2018 Olympics. He caught my attention in a good way then, when he probably wouldn't have stood out nearly as much in the full men's field. It was nice to see him come full circle to stand out again in the team event 8 years later!

Forgot to congratulate Ellie for her fight on the jumps and throws.
Oh my! I just watched my DVR replay of their skate and man oh man so proud of Ellie fought for all of her landings! So good! I'm so happy for her and elder statesman Danny! He's been on the medal trail for years and glad he got a gold today! Yayyyyy team! And watching Ellie cry and her and Danny's parents in the stands. Meant so much to them! So proud of their hard work :fun: :party2::points:
