Ladies LP - actual competition

Yeah for AC!!!! I could watch her skate all day long....sorry she is only in second right now, but great for her!!!

Czisny deservedly into 2nd. The judges got it right! Thank goodness.

Alissa Czisny, USA

Dr. Zhivago

3lz-turn-2t - wild on lz landing
3f - 2foot
3lo nice from 3-turns
2a lean but done
3lz-2t (slight 2foot?)
3t-2t
2a good
spins all as well-done as can be

honestly, she's lovely and all, but leaves me cold. Did nothing with the music (not that this is great music to express, i concede). So has a pleasing gentle quality, but lacks refinement still. Underuses her arms. And there's always this palpable sense of caution from her -- still builing on her competition confidence, naturally. But many elements she does beautifully well and rightly scores big...
I really prefer Suzuki from JPN, but she probably doesn't score well on spins

104.19 -- 159.81 -- 2nd
wow, I'm surprised but pleased Suzuki leads

Well, Suzuki landed more and I bet that Czisny's Flip got downgraded.

And there's always this palpable sense of caution from her
I second that. Even her stroking looks insecure. Only the spins don't!

104, that's more like it...they gave her 112 at Nats for a similar performance (ha! now we see.)

czisny clean! (ok, half dodgy, but clean!!)

low technical- downgrades, or too-long delay between 3lutz and double in combo

if she looks like she's gonna puke at the start of this program, what will she be like at worlds

credentials, yes. they probably wear not just theirs but also their skater(s)'

I was wondering why they had so many if it would have had to be just for themselves. It makes sense the skaters would have some too, so the coaches maybe hold on to them? I noticed tonnes of tags yesterday but hadn't really thought about it until I saw them on Alissa's coach. And I noticed there are pictures on them too but didn't get to make out the pictures.

Actually, this is the first time I was impressed with Alissa's skate. No fall! I thought her score was going to be higher than Suzuki's even though both were very pleasing to watch.

Akiko 3 points behind on PCS? :scowl: Scandal! There really is no love for the "lesser" Japanese, yesterday Taka, today Akiko. Akiko's speed and edging, her confidence level and spunk is far superior to Czisny's - they should be equal on PCS because Czisny has the better posture and better flexibility.

i said two days ago, judges no love for Akiko, she only got 24+ PCS in SP

Akiko Suzuki has amazing speed and crispness to her skating. That footwork sequence was something. But I think her movements aren't polished enough, a bit sloppy. 105 was just about what I thought.

Alissa got better and better with her jumps, but it really didn't begin well. I thought she'd score about 110 anyway, since judges seem to like her, but she placed behind Akiko, which is interesting (though about right). She's really committed to her choreography, which is delightful for the audience, but she doesn't fast complex/fast transitions and rather slow and repetitive arm movements (though elegant), and the jumps weren't really there for her in the first half.

Binshu Xu's having a total melt down. She became unglued after falling on the first 3Z, which seemed fully rotated but ended in a hard fall on the butt. The audience applauding during a spin to cheer her on. 3T-2T, but a little late, this is not gonna score well...

Suzuki's planned program was more difficult than Czisny's. Add to that, the fact that Alissa wasn't clean, and it's a no brainer who the leader is and should be - Akiko. Czisny's PCS at National was 60+; here it was 54.08, much more realistic.
