I love it too. It's his song and he sings it with such sorrow and emotion. But then I nearly always prefer originals. I prefer Leonard's version of Hallelujah and I know that puts me in the minority. I like KD Lang's version too. But then to me Leonard > Anyone covering his songs.

It was probably merged...Well better late than never, I enjoyed Deanna and Nate. Their conditioning isn't quite there yet, but I liked the way the Whitney Houston program kept building and so did their intensity...Chris has improved a lot, and I like the Benoit choreo on them. They need intensive jump training, and I have a good suggestion for whom they should use. I still can't get beyond the feeling that he is holding her back, no matter how much I like him! Aljona is good for them.

I don't think it was griping. I think people sincerely felt it felt like a dated program because of the music. I wasn't bringing it up cause I wanted to talk about Jason in the pairs thread, but just to support my belief that I think people choose modern covers because they feel the original versions are dated.

And no, I don't think a different costume will make the program magically better. I also am in the minority though that I think it will be better with some reworking and some mileage. We'll see.

I have seen them skate to things where their connection is awesome. With this, they're probably still overthinking things as they grow into the program. Still, even at his best, he is not on her level. She used to be a singles skater, and I think that just took her to a whole other level. (whispering) I know her perfect partner but won't say it, lest I get tomatoes thrown at me! :scard7: That being said, this has a lot of potential, and I think Aljona's touch will help them make the program a winner. Pretty sure they have Sk Amer, right? So they have plenty of polishing to do by that time. And also jumps - jumps - jumps!!!!

Adding -- Yes, they do have Sk Amer, along with Cain & Leduc. Not sure if the TBD has been assigned yet.

LOL I actually have a true Helena Christensen story. I used to work near Times Square, and one day on my lunch hour I was looking for someplace new to eat. So I was out reading a menu (restaurants put their menus in the window to tempt you in). Anyway, this very pretty woman (pretty, not oh my goodness she's stunning), comes up and is also reading the menu. And she turns to me and says, They're pretty pricey for a deli aren't they? And I did note she had beautiful and unusual eyes. So we chatted about NYC restaurants for a few moments and she left. My work friend came tearing up to me, going, "Oh my, do you know who you were talking to? That's HELENA CHRISTENSEN!!!" And I said, If I had known that, I would have told her to do a few more modeling jobs and then she could BUY the deli.

LOL! I'm always so clueless when it comes to seeing celebs in NYC.

It could be comments in context of Jason's particular interpretation of the program that day (i.e. as TontoK said, they wouldn't have said that about Sui/Han's take).

I guess classical music is timeless. There's a difference.

They need a jump specialist. It's clearly always been a problem for him, but it has become an issue for her as well. She is also fighting for throw landings when she used to be SO good at them. I think he definitely does not match her in SS (even thought I see improvements here!) and that limits their choreography and speed. I don't know exactly where, but I remember hearing/reading he started skating at an older age. That could be an explanation.

it looks like Chris is going through the motions and is out there because his wife wants to continue to skate competively. I guess one has to look realistically to what your overall goals are. It’s not like usfsa pays there athletes expenses outside of a Fraction of a stipen towards training expenses. Not like I’m other countries where all expenses and then some are paid. But perhaps Chris and Alexa need to just keep working and finish out the season and evaluate where they are in terms of there overall progress before continuing to shell out so much money to keep going. I think it will be an interesting couple of years in the pairs Fields.

He was struggling with a shoulder injury which was limiting him for awhile. Then she had that dreadful life-threatening illness. I don't know, this could still be the after effects of her illness. I thought she came back really soon after being so ill. There was always so much emphasis put on their 4Tw (which was incredible when they hit it), while I thought some of their other elements needed to be more thoroughly practiced...We'll see what they decide to do. Occasionally I drive by the rink where they train, and I wonder if they're in there working!!!! One of these days I'll get up the nerve to go in and look!
