Am I crazy that I enjoyed Cha's performance the best of the men?

Not at all in my potato opinion, I think that Cha with all this opening duty, his first Olympics and being only 16, skating on his home soil did exceptionally good, producing an engaged, solid performance he should be proud of. Especially, when we take into account how it went for far more experienced and successful guys. He and Matteo were highlights, Bychenko for me was a gem, Shoma shown a true grit and nerves of a champ in my opinion.

No. T/M PCS score for that particular program, for that particular performance are very justified. Today, they absolutely deserved it, that is not even debatable.

The main issue for me (maybe it has already been discussed, but I really don't have the time to read through 137 pages, sorry if that's the case just ignore me ) was that most of these skaters (not only Chan, but also Chen, Kolyada) didn't really want to compete here, they had no motivation and no enthusiasm, and why blame them? Their focus is on the individual competition, as it should be. This Team Event thing really is a disgrace: it adds nothing while taking away energy and time :scowl:

I don't like the Team Event in general, but how do you know that none of those 3 wanted to participate? Seems like a convenient excuse for a bad performance. Shoma managed to do a good job, and I'm sure he's hoping to do well in the individual competition just like those men. The pairs skated well overall, so if they didn't want to do this, they sucked it up and performed to the best of their ability.

Mr. Magoo could have seen that Patrick and Mikhail were not going to suddenly start skating like champs here when they never managed it all season. Nathan has much less experience and I am not surprised that he cracked under pressure. The ice was bad, the schedule is tough, but if you can't bother to even attempt to perform well, then I find that pretty shameful. Other skaters would have appreciated the opportunity.

I woke up at 2, than the stream broke down. Then I found second one. And fell asleep. I was so tired and woke up during the replay of Bychenko's skating, exactly at that moment, when they did that special 'multiple' trick - so I saw like 5 Bychenkos on the screen and was like: whaaat...? then I fell asleep and woke up once again. I saw videos I missed, thanks to you!

The whole idea of team event is frankly stupid. Like, is it normal when a skater completely failed his skate(Kolyada) but will most likely end up with an olympic medal through the merits of others? Or other skaters who aren't able to win gold(or medal) in their disciplines (Kolyada just being the best example after his fail).
I consider team event a meaningless medals giveaway for top federations. What's the point of holding a competition between 4 countries, with 3 medals available?

OMG I'm watching this back because I was at work...and I'm just watching the Pairs and the Japanese skaters are skating to Yuri on Ice OMG, I love it so much.

This incidentally is an absolutely boss song to skate to.

I like the team event and think it is great. I would just schedule it after individual. And what you said can be said about every team sport.

Still catching up and while the TES Box is disappointing I do like some of the slow-mo replays and such...like they even showed one of Bychenko's in frames it looked awesome!

I'm up to Aliona and Bruno now, shame about the fall, they were doing so well! With any luck she and Bruno will be perfect in the non-team pairs event!

LOL the American commentator messed up their names and could figure out what to say re: Russia, Olympic Athletes from Russia or what.

Except...the end of this program is so weird...why do they stop right over in the corner there!

The Aussie commentators were right next to the Russian ones and you could hear TAT going nuts on the audio track!

Why would Russians even care about team event at this point. It's not like the medals are going to the country. At this stage it is all about an individual athlete's personal ambitions. If I were Russian government, I would not waste my resources.

True...although I guess they could do it to stick it to the man, like "We're clean athletes and we're the best!"

Plus they still get a medal to take home!

I disagree. They were looking very calculated throughout the performance. Only when they finished the tough elements did they loosen up. Of course they were also facing a ton of pressure when Kolyada bombed and good on them for going clean and having a strong skate. The judges were probably hankering for a clean skate (D/R were rough on the lutzes bur overall solid).

S/K was a pleasant surprise too and alleviated some of the damage from Nathan placing lower than expected.

Eric and Meghan were interviewed about the same subject. They know what people are saying about them, but they don't care. They said that they don't have to prove anything to anyone only to themselves. It's a great attitude to have.

It is still Team Russia no matter if they have their symbols or not. And these athletes still want to defend the honor of their country and skate well for their personal & national pride. Well, most of them, anyway.

Looking very calculated doesn't affect SS, TR, PE, CO or even IN since IN is also interpretation of the music and Timing, which they did very well. They were spot on, Rachmaninoff suits them very well.
