2024-25 US Women's Figure Skating

soooo nationals are about 5 weeks away, what are everyone's predictions? i don't think there's been any indication of Isabeau's shape, Bradie and Alysa have very much been on the rise this season, Amber is having the best season of her life. Lindsey has been having issues and Sarah could be a threat. Ava is listed as a competitor on the USFSA website...is it her plan to compete? with all of Amber's wins this season i think they're going to be gunning for her to repeat, but the pressure will be on to keep her title and it will be interesting to see how she handles it. it's a position she's never been in before. i'm thinking...

1. Amber
2. Isabeau (???)
3. Alysa
4. Bradie
5. Sarah

depending what shape Isabeau shows up in, i could see a world team with Amber, Alysa and Bradie.
I agree with your list though I think Sarah could place higher. After all she did break 200 earlier in the season. And there could always be someone unexpected sneaking in there such as Sherry Zhang (great SP).

completely agree, i think Sarah could even grab a silver or bronze.

Has anyone heard a word from isabeau levito? I'm kinda scared for her, mentally.
I never quite understood was she injured? Regrouping? Mental Health issues? AS the world silver medeallist she was the leader in USFA's eyes but that has changed now with Amber Glenn winning all her GP events and the Finals. Alyssa has looked great and with the apparent vulnerability of Isabeau I guess the door is open for Sarah, Bradie, the unknown how is she doing Ava? IMHO Amber, Alyssa have been consistently good and even if they don't take the national title they look like safe bets for two of the world positions. If Isabeau skates okay even she should get it being the defending world silver medallist and Sarah has cooled after her initial hot start. I have to admit Bradie is tenancious and won't give up so good for her but I find her skating rather lack lustre. If everyone crashes and burns she is not a horrible choice for the third spot.

Nothing has been publicly said regarding regrouping or injury or mental health.

Isabeau is just so young and the sport so tough that I'm worried for her.

my biggest fear with Isabeau is her technique is going to catch up with her before the olympics. i'm not sure if that is what's already happening, but it's not sustainable in the long run and the longer she waits to fix it the harder it will be. i hope she's doing okay whatever is going on.

They had the opportunity to fix the technique in the past two years, but went for medals instead while Isabeau was 15 and 16. She wouldn't have been eligible the last two years under the new age rule, and the age rule was brought in precisely to stop skaters chasing medals at the expense of health (physical and mental) in that vulnerable 15-16 year old age bracket. It's some what unethical to push 15 and 16 year olds so hard when we have all the data showing what harm it does. Very sad what they've done :(

The American ladies still look good for three spots at the olympics even without Ava and Isabeau. We have Amber, Alyssa and??? The third spot. looks open. Will Bradie reassert herself? Sarah? Sherry? Ms. Lee?

i think now that Isabeau is out Bradie is going to be fighting tooth and nail for that worlds spot. she can do it.

I'm sure the push will be to grant Isabeau a spot on the World Team anyway, at least provisionally. I hope they don't do that.

In addition to my longstanding disagreement with the body of work approach and favoritism towards a trial scenario, I think that outright denying her an opportunity to compete at Worlds will give her and her team a mindset that a slow-proper healing is the way to go. Naming her to the Worlds Team, even provisionally, is a go-ahead to try to come back prematurely.

It seems to me her and her team are already focused on healing fully before returning, otherwise she might have went ahead and still tried to compete at nats. Isabeau herself said that she wanted to make sure she recovered and is able to come back fully without pain or limitations
