All judges agreed with Fear/Gibson's overall lead. Spanish and USA judge were on the low side for them (below 80)
6 had them also leading in PCS. 3 put them behind C/B in PCS (USA, Spain and Korea)
Canadian judge had Chock/Bates third behind Davies/Smolkin
Spanish judge had Davies/Smolkin into 9th
British judge placed Fabbri/Ayer last
German judge still love Tim Dieck (had them 3rd overall)
Korean judge had Neset/Markelov into 3rd

not surprised about the British judge... i don't ever remember when he scored a Canadian team well... no idea why... i mean we gave the UK the Fear sisters and George Waddell. Time to pay it forward.

So the Canadian judge decided that a fall should be penalized. How original ?

Oh. Ah. Turns out the ex-Belarussian and now Georgian judge Levshunova also judged at that famous Warsaw Cup where Diana broke all records and made sure she'd be at the Olympics. Jussayin.

I think I can already make my predictions for the bronze (or even silver) medal at the Europeans and the Team events at the next Olympics.

They can´t afford mistakes like today at least.... And maybe they are not entirely competition form yet.. So who knows...

That was just a freak fall. Her skate got caught on his boot or something. I think they are competition ready. C/ B have their weaknesses but they skate a lot closer together than essentially all the other teams here. It's good partnering but it does make mistakes possible.

They are really behind at the moment. But, F/ G, FD is really not a great vehicle for them. The first half truly highlights their weakness in SS. OTOH C/ B have a great FD. So, C/B could still win this.

Honestly, people are hating on the judging but I think the judging was fine. ( Fair complaints about the choreo rhythm GOE though IMHO) It was the technical calling that lead to these results. Ice dance is so complicated that even the coaches / choreographers make mistakes. I don't think the technical calling was wrong. It's just teams working things out in the early season.

because their scores are just as fair as Diana and Gleb's.



But glad to see Lilah and Lewis in first. Not because I have some deep seated resentment of Madi and Evan, but because they deserve it.

I disagree. Some skated more than well enough to be rewarded and were not.

Have a look at the judges scoring. It's fascinating.. The Korean judge has a mind of their own.

This program was just as tasteless and disorganized as the kiss and cry area.

That K&C makes everyone look as if they just sat down for a moment in a drugstore aisle among the product displays.

I agree, I am just saying that of the two "overscored" teams, I am less upset with Madi and Evan than Diana and Gleb. Plus, I think there is an attitude toward Madi and Evan similar to the attitude to IAM. I get the feeling folks are just itching to pounce.

I did not see Alicia and Paul, but Olivia and Tim, Marie-Jade and Romain, and Leah and Artem wuzrobbed. They should have been rewarded. I will trust you for Alicia and Paul that they wuzrobbed as well.

they certainly were... they do not come with a reputation... they were just gifted that event because of a w/d... so you can imagine that some judges (not naming anyone) overlooked them.

Just a general note for the field: it was amazing how little fun most of them looked like they were having, lol. This year's rhythm dances are just a tough watch for me on the whole so far. Very few have solved the problem that was this mishmash selection of theme.

I thought Lauriault/Le Gac and the Czech team were hosed. Davis/Smolkin were pretty egregiously favoured. Chock/Bates probably can't make up that much ground in the free. It does kinda feel like they are finally being penalized for their mistakes. As for their program, it was a weird mishmash of too many music cuts, but they did have some of the best delivery on the day in spite of the fall. Fear/Gibson's RD is boring. I don't remember a thing about it except Fear doing too much finger pointing and having a stunning costume.

Annabelle Morozov has an incredible amount of charisma. Fabri/Ayer's SD sure is doing good things for them with the judges so far this season.

Hopefully, this will be the last season of decade theme music for RDs. I am already sick of it. Hoping for next year's Olympic season that they go back to a traditional dance pattern.

I'm puzzled about Davis and Smolkin. I'm not sure how that RD fits in with the idea of 50s, 60s or 70s social dances. I thought much of the choreography looked like mid 80s to 90s street dance at the earliest. Sure there was a snippet of Labelle in the middle but there didn't seem to be any consideration to the style of that music. As for the Lady Marmalade covers- I know covers/ remixes are allowed but surely they should in keeping with the spirit/sound of the decade to some extent?

Chock and Bates- I liked idea behind what they were doing but I'm not sure if it really worked overall here. Without the big error would that have deserved to go first? Fear and Gibson looked really strong here.

I'm not going to complain about the scores as it's very easy to cherry pick scores off a protocol to fit a certain narrative. It does look like the calls from the technical panel made for some lower than expected scores for teams who seemed to be getting higher GOE.

With the RD staring in 8 min, the crowd size is terrible! They need to lower ticket prices to get people in the seats .

Eye catching speed from the Mrazeks. Sue me if you want, but I think the syncro cartwheels are fun.
