Arguably, my body shook harder during Roman's FS that it normally does while Piper/Paul perform
For some reason, I'm drawn to Roman's "zen" presence and down to earth attitude - and I really want him to do well. In my book he did well, mainly because he did not let that 4S fall spoil rest of his performance. Sure, the whole thing still needs work and cleanups, but...this is one of very few programs this season that can "sit" on my brain for days (the other is definitely Rino Matsuike's FS). It's so quietly intensive, a bit mystical (that passage between 2A sequence and step sequence...just exquisite), with that finale build-up that imho was brilliantly used for spins and choreo sequence.
I cracked up at Roman's coach standing to show off her purse to someone sitting above
, but more seriously - congratulations to Roman for standing on business there, for being back, winning and making me emotional
Anthony...what's special for me is that he always seems to leave part of his heart in the performance. You can see a program is an experience to him AND to the audience, not a checklist to tick off. And he always goes to the great lengths to embody the music, the story and his own feelings about it. There's space for acknowledgement of technical skills and there's space to feel something from a skater, related to them on personal level, to get moved - and Anthony never fails to move people in some way or another I feel. Kudos to him for pushing himself and not giving up on the performance after that 3A pop. It moved me seeing him so taken by this moment.
