Kim is of course the deserved winner. But I don't know what the judges are getting at with those huge PCS scores. There was a very obvious mistake in that program, but the PCS she got were like "6.0" in presentation. And the next time she doesn't get those huge scores she got for PCS in the long program - she will give a nasty interview that she doesn't understand why they gave her so much at worlds and less this time? It's what happened with Chan, and after thinking about it for a few days - the question is what were the judges thinking, giving him about 80 the entire season, except for the sudden 89 at 4CC?
I don't get
Asada's very low PCS. Her mistake was a bit more obvious, but in the end she and Kim landed about the same: Asada a 3A, two 3F, a 3T and a 3R. Kim landed a 3F, two 3Lz and two 3T. Plus Asada has better spins and better extension, that should count for something.
Rochette was lucky to be placed above Miki, but it was the short program - so I guess it can happen. But she was tentative and her jumps didn't have the usual quality.
Miki
Ando, the skate of the night!

Too bad about the downgrade on the Triple Loop, otherwise the silver would have been hers for sure. I am happy that she got a standing ovations, what a way to get back into the Top Three! She must have visited a spin doctor, I mean, nothing shaky about the spins this time, nice positions - what an improvement. Spiral sequence still mediocre though, I guess she probably begs the PTB every day that they will make the spiral sequence optional (so that ladies could do a second step sequence). And she is the most beautiful lady out there. I think I am going to make my first ladies' banner ever!
Lepistö was gifted, if you have only 3 consistent Triples, please land them all. But she never does it. Landed the Lutz though, which is kind of ironic. Incredible skating quality though, amazing posture - she looks as if she is always aware of every fiber of her body.
No hidden Czechs this time, only hidden Italians. But I think it was actually worse than Verner last year.
Leonova! Great make-over, she looks lovely. In the end it was the least enthusiastic skate she has had this season, but it was still charming and technically solid. I guess she and her coach were a bit overwhelmed by her success this season themselves. So I hope she goes home, works a bit on polishing the elements, improving the spins. Has a few talks with Slutskaya. She might even want to consider a 3-3, the 3F looks very solid for her and she has good flow out of it.
Incredible happy for
Elene, what an improvement! Missing the long program at Euros just 2 months ago, now Top Ten at Worlds. I love her skating, so much personality, great spins... Also happy for
Sarah, even saving 2 spots for Switzerland after all those injuries.
One last thing, both Kim and Flatt didn't have their last spin counted. Also too many revolutions on another spin at some point, or is there another reason?
