She is still unbelievably awesome. Wow.My word - Simone is a beast still.
Truly. I just loved seeing how happy she seemed to be on the floor. My word - Simone is a beast still.
Beast is an interesting label for a ladies' gymnastMy word - Simone is a beast still.
I think she said she’s been back in the gym since March. I read the timeline and promptly forgot it.i was honestly very surprised how amazing Simone looks! i wonder if she was ever out of the gym at all; i had assumed with how much she travels, her wedding, how much she is with her friends she wasn't training for quite a while. it looks like she never stopped! she really must have been keeping it under wraps for a long time. even though we've had 10 years with her, i am so not ready for a gymnastics world without Simone Biles. no one will ever replace her.
also much respect to Suni for even competing at all under the circumstances, i hope she stays healthy and continues an upward trajectory. it's so good to see her back no matter what.
do we know when Gabby plans to compete? will it be this season at all?
Its difficult. I follow various Twitter accounts - @OU_MGymnastics, @wellsgymn (Mark Williams, coach of OU men's gymnastics), @jrflipfest (John Rothlisberger) All very nice and responsive to questions. USA men's gymnastics is in big trouble. Universities are cutting men's gymnastics programs, there's some effort to try to save the sport. Unlike the women's side, the men's college programs are basically feeders for elite gymnastics. I went to Olympic trials in 2016 and it was amazing. 2021 was not so amazing due to Covid. Also went to NCAA men's gymnastics championships which was a lot of fun. I was cheering for Yul and one man (he was the parent of another gymnast) for some reason thought I was dating Yul. I was like no...he basically asked (more politely) what I was doing there. I said "it's fun to watch!" He said "it IS fun to watch." Plus I got a billion pictures of my man Chris Brooks (who's now coaching the Arkansas women's team with his fiance).Question for the group - I follow Balance Beam Situation and a couple of other forums for gymnastics info (and there is always a lot on social media about WAG) but I struggle to find info about men's gymnastics. Any one here have good forums you read or belong to for Mens gymnastics (or better places for WAG, too?)
They did away with it. There are 5 slots, whereas there were 4 in Tokyo, plus the extra slot. Someone (and I believe it was Stephen) was almost certainly about to qualify that way when they cancelled the World Cup and he just had to go home. I would wish for 6 or 7 again but we aren't getting that.Does anyone know if there is a path to Paris 2024 Olympics for individual athletes to qualify if they are not likely to be chosen as part of their team? I'm thinking of the way Jade Cary qualified to the Tokyo 2020. I feel like they may have done away with that, but I'm not sure and the rules are confusing.Wondering about her again, and also about Stephen Nedoroscik, also.
I think I knew that they did away with it, but I was hearing/reading about individuals qualifying. I guess that is for folks whose country's didn't qualify a team. Yes - you are correct about Stephen. They did away with it. There are 5 slots, whereas there were 4 in Tokyo, plus the extra slot. Oh yes, that may be...and that would be fair if a team didn't qualify.I think I knew that they did away with it, but I was hearing/reading about individuals qualifying. I guess that is for folks whose country's didn't qualify a team. Yes - you are correct about Stephen.
True. I just hate the fact that someone like Stephen (and Jade, perhaps) who is one of the very best in the world on Pommel won't get to compete at worlds (and perhaps Paris) because he lives and trains in the US and won't make the 5 man team. I think it is a shame.Oh yes, that may be...and that would be fair if a team didn't qualify.
I hate it myself. I get why they picked the team they did for Worlds, because we haven't yet qualified a team for Paris.True. No more Katelyns.
