2025-26 German Figure Skating

It's not actually that crazy an idea. And it is probably a good move if they have Olympic ambitions. Atl's mother is German, so if he doesn't already have a German passport, it shouldn't be too hard for him to get one.

See, that's information that I either didn't know or forgot all about, but yes, he should be a German citizen then, as Germany allows multiple citizenships for those born with them. He also said he was learning German (and Russian) back in 2020, so it does make more sense.

Still a bit surprised, as I didn't think he and Mia would end up together. Guess it was a toss-up about which fed to represent, the monetary situation must be fairly similar and the fields are similar enough too.

It is probably easier for him to get German citizenship (if he doesn't have it already) than for her to get UK citizenship. Atl had said that he was willing to move. One of the reasons he and Ashlie Slater split was that he wasn't happy training at Streatham and she wasn't willing to move to anywhere else.

Alexia Kruk / Jan Eisenhaber won't be at Test Skates as they will be competing at Lake Placid Ice Dance International in a few days' time and have already travelled to the USA. Good luck to them! ❤️

They are the oldest among the Junior-eligible Ice Dance teams, and the silver medalists from Junior Nationals last season, so I'm sure they'll still be assigned to their two JGPs.

First footage of Junior Test Skates:

Anna Gerke showing off her (new) 3Lz+3T and 3Lo, Sophie Erhardt her 3Lz+3T and 2A, and Novice champions Adelina Voroteliak and Diana Ziesecke their 3Lo and 2A. 🔥

Genrikh Gartung's 4Lz+3T looking ready for the start of the season. 💪

I belong to team Michelangelo. I hope they give him a spot.
Well, I'm sure the German Skating Fed will want to give him a spot. He'll just have to jump like this in both programs this weekend, and absolutely no problems there

yes, his 3A is pretty consistant. But Michelangelo just advanded to Juniors, perhaps German Fed wants to give first the older ones a spot.

It's not so much about what the German Fed wants, as it is about the results the skaters deliver at Test Skates. While protocols are not released to the public, Test Skates are judged (probably not just in the Short and the Free, but also in the separate jumping tests) and skaters achieve spots in accordance with their placements as outlined in the selection document.

They've also not had any issue with sending other skaters freshly out of Novices in the past, so don't worry too much, if he delivers semi-well here, he will get a JGP assignment. He's also on the older side for a skater just moving up to Juniors, he turns 16 at the end of the month.

Based on the pictures uploaded by Hella Höppner on her website (Thank God for her), four Junior women and seven Junior Men are taking part in Test Skates.

Junior Women: Sophie Erhardt, Anna Gerke, Adelina Voroteliak and Diana Ziesecke
Junior Men: Leon Rojkov, Michelangelo Caprano, Richard von Göler, Robert Wildt, Felix Zeng, Soner Öztürk and Genrikh Gartung

Side note, Michail Savitskiy is back in Oberstdorf, helping Benjamin Steffan run an Ice Dance camp.

More jumps from the boys:

And they get to show off their new SP costumes as well:

And to complete the girls' line-up - Sophie Erhardt's new SP and dress:

New dress:

And new SP:

Including a 3Lz+2T, which is almost certainly intended to be a 3Lz+3T long-term, and 3Lo

I cannot believe how spoiled for choice the German federation is with these four Junior women as Germany only has three JGP spots.

And let's get to the partnered disciplines:

Three pairs are attending test skates:
Sevastianova/Gneiding, Krebs/Trofymov, and the Löwenherz siblings. No Herrmann siblings, but they could show up to Senior Test Skates or might just not consider themselves ready to contend for a JGP spot.

Four Ice Dance teams are there as well:
Grimm/Rodin, Edler/Hörmann, Hemcke/Sladkov, and the Kobor twins. Sadly, not my favourite Novice team that I thought would go Junior this season, the Salenbauch siblings, and also not Mayer/Ongay-Perez (though this might be just too early for them, and they can't get any JGP assignments anyway).

If you can't wait until tomorrow, here's a first look at Grimm/Rodin's new FD costumes:

(Hemcke/Sladkov's FD costumes are also shown in an Instagram story)

Are Lilia and Nikita moving up to Seniors? (not sure about their ages right now)

The German fed is very active this season for Junior Test Skates, lots of content on IG.

Some footage from the Men's SP & warm-up on IG stories, including:
Genrikh's 3F and 3F+3T
Robert Wildt's new Tango SP with 2A, 3Lz+2T (probably intended to be a 3Lz+3T) and 3Lo
Soner Öztürk's new Elvis SP with 3S+3T

And Felix Zeng's new SP:

With an impressive costume, a 3T+3T and a 3Lo

And a showcase of new costumes for the partnered disciplines as well:

As well as a look at the new SP of the Löwenherz siblings:

Footage of Sevastianova/Gneiding (2Tw, 2FTh, and lift) and Krebs/Trofymov (lift) is only on IG stories for now.

From the pictures on Hella's website, it seems like Sophie, Adelina and the Löwenherz siblings are keeping their Free Skates from last season (or were at least using the costumes here).

For the nerds under us skating fans, Felix Zeng's new Free Skate costume should give you a kick, as it is heavily inspired by this one:

(Yes, he's doing a Yuri!!! on Ice Free Skate. He got his Katsudon already after Test Skates.)

Hella Höppner posted some results on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/hella.hoppner
Diana Ziesecke won, Anna Gerke second. Ziesecke won both the SP and the free.
Genrikh Gartung showed his senior programs, so he skated out of competition.
Felix Zeng won, Leon Rojkov won the free. In the short Zeng was first, Robert Wildt second, Soner Öztürk third.
Grimm/Rodin won the RD with 60,83 points.
