2024-25 South Korean Figure Skating

Do you know what Junhwan's latest injury is, ichat? He didn't look himself in the SP and then I heard he'd withdrawn from the free.

As always it's his ankle, specifically his right one. As you know his ankle was so bad during last season that he didn't even go to his second GP (also at Finland, iirc) and did not have a good competition at WC, and while he did his best with rehabilitating his injury he started the season without being fully healed. He was hanging on when he was feeling about 70-80% of his full condition, and then he had to change boots before going to Helsinki. I'd love to know why exactly his feet and his boots hate each other so much but as always his new boots gave him pain, thus the SP. In short: existing ankle injury aggravated by new boots not fitting. I can only pray that he'll recover in time and his boots will cooperate enough as they are worn in...

As you know, my ankle has been giving me issues... and... well it was healed and then, I had to train with flippers at the pool. They were tight and not flexible enough... Guess what, my ankle swell and was painful for 2-3 days after that. It's fine again now... So I can easily imagine that with new boots, something like this could happen and can easily imagine that he will get better soon when the boots are broken in.

I am not his physician of course. I am just trying to find a bright light here because I missed him terribly this weekend and I hope he can recover fully soon.

I missed him too. I always enjoy watching him, especially his Ina Bauer (I know, not being original. I think many people love this.).

you wrote to me a few weeks ago that Lee's appeal was rejected by KSU. what's going on in the background?

and one more question if I may. is Cho Hyejin no longer looking for a partner? she should not be released by the fed

the president of KSU doesn't know to skate? WTFun. who is he?
The current president is Yoon Hongkeun, suffice it to say that he is a businessman and not a sportsman.

So first things first... The rejection was done by the Commission for Fair Play in Sports under the KSOC (Korean Sports & Olympic Committee), which has the power to evaluate decisions made by sporting organizations. KSU decided on her suspension, Haein appealed that the suspension was unjust to the commission, and it was rejected by the commission. I apologize if my wording was not clear. And secondly... how am I supposed to know what's going on in the background? I'm just a fan and not an insider...
and one more question if I may. is Cho Hyejin no longer looking for a partner? she should not be released by the fed
No news from her or her coach, I'm assuming that she isn't looking for a partner anymore but again, not an insider, I don't know anything for sure.

sorry, I didn't mean to hold you accountable, it was just weird that Lee Haein's name came up. I personally support her, but that doesn't matter.
Hye-jin... it's not that I can't find her on icepartnersearch, it's that I don't see any effort from KSU to manage a team in pairs. if there is no determined, perhaps an aggressive mom, then there is no Korean ice dance now?
what is less important: it is not a problem if the president was not an elite athlete (in fact, it is better if he excels in economic life), but if he cannot skate, he should not go on the ice to give medals. because it's unaesy.
last: you're not just a fan

last: you're not just a fan
Um... what? Do you think I'm an insider? I'm not, I don't know any skaters or KSU personnel in real life, I am really just a fan who follows the news. I have no idea where you got the notion that I may be more than just a humble fan but that is what I am, I only know what the other fans know. Just because I'm one of the most active Koreans on this forum doesn't mean I'm anybody important...

Edit: a few more things... First, Haein's situation has been discussed on this thread, if you wanted to know how she got on the 4CC team then please read the previous posts. I cannot reiterate everything for everyone. Second, KSU does not give two figs about pairs development, they do not care about development that much in general. Ice dance used to be in the same position, yes, but some KSU members like judge Yang Taehwa (former ice dancer) are working to make that change. I don't know any skating parents in real life to discuss them like I know what's on their minds, all I know is that Korean ID is not fostered by KSU but by a few invested people which will probably include skaters' parents. Lastly, president Yoon will walk on a carpet laid on the ice wearing his shoes if he actually comes to give medals, so it is absolutely irrelevant if he can skate or not.

Since I'm apparently depended upon enough regarding news about Korean skating that I may be thought of as more than just a fan... here's an announcement of sorts: I'm going to be appearing much less frequently on the forum for the near future, I will post important news on this thread if it hasn't been posted by anybody else and I will post the thread for Nationals with all the necessary info but other than that I'll mostly be MIA. Real life is kinda insane for me right now, both as a private person and a Korean citizen, and I barely have enough time to actually watch skating. Hopefully I'll get to resume my active posting around 4CCs, assuming that 4CCs won't be relocated or something...

Your company will be missed, but I am glad you will be around for Nationals. I am available as your REWATCH person for any needs you might have.

I applaud your decision to put your health and life first. Life balance is so important for your well being. I wish you the best in all parts of your life and hope you find a balance that brings you some peace and better health. My prayers have been with you and the Korean people and will continue as needed. May it be of some small consolation that many have you in their thoughts.

You will be missed, and I hope real life normalizes soon!
